Minerals
represent one of the five categories of nutrients that
are critical for efficient performance. Anipro/Xtraformance
Feeds and their parent company, have long been recognized
as experts in mineral nutrition and our products represent
the most effective and bioavailable mineral packages available
in the industry. Bioavailability is the ability of a mineral
to be absorbed by the animal and transported to the action
site for that mineral. Minerals are categorized as either
Macro Minerals (Ca, P, K, Mg, etc.) or Trace Minerals (Cu,
Zn, Fe, Mn, Co, Se, etc.) and are in either inorganic or
organic form.
Inorganic Materials
Inorganic materials are compounds taken from the earth
by mining or any chemical element of either metallic or
nonmetallic origin which occur in nature. Inorganic minerals
are used by the rumen microflora to ensure that a healthy,
highly populated rumen is maintained to maximize digestion.
Inorganic minerals are typically included in supplements
in either the sulfate or oxide form and vary greatly in
the % relative bioavailability. Ensuring the proper type
of inorganic material used is extremely important.
Organic Minerals
Organic minerals are minerals that have been chemically
arranged so that they are bound by a highly nutritive and
absorbable organic compound, such as protein or specific
amino acid. There are many types of organic minerals, utilizing
different types of organic compounds. Anipro/Xtraformance
Feeds uses the AvailaMins line invented and manufactured
by Zinpro Corporation, because of their superior quality,
consistency and field proven effectiveness.

To
create AvailaMins, Zinpro subjects a highly pure source
of protein to their Patented "Amino Acid Extraction
Process",
creating an intermediate product containing only free amino
acids. Zinpro then isolates and complexes these free amino
acids to a specific trace mineral using their unique "Complexing
Technology", to create the Metal Amino Acid Complex.
This 1:1 ratio of trace mineral to amino acid gives two
distinct
advantages: 1) bioavailability is dramatically increased
as is shown in Table 1 for Zinc, and 2) the potential for
mineral "tie-ups" in the rumen due to antagonists
such as Iron and Phosphorus or Copper and Molybedenum is
greatly
reduced.
Organic Mineral Nutrition
Organic Mineral Nutrition means a correct balance between
inorganic and organic minerals to the animal. Inorganic
minerals feed the rumen microflora and organic minerals
are absorbed by the host animal. Ensuring a balance between
the two is a concept that X F Enterprises and Anipro/Xtraformance
Feeds have mastered over the last 45 years.
